Candlemas Pancake Feast to Personalise
Pancake Feast for Candlemas to Personalise
Colouring page featuring a stack of pancakes, likely to celebrate Candlemas, a traditional French festival for enjoying pancakes. Atop the stack sits a whole strawberry and blueberries. The pile is resting on a plate, with a drizzle of syrup or coulis coating the pancakes. At the bottom, there is a space marked "Name" for personalising the colouring with the child's name, for example.
Candlemas, or the Feast of the Candles, is celebrated on 2nd February, exactly 40 days after Christmas. According to tradition, pancakes, with their round shape and golden colour, are said to resemble the sun and signify the return of light after the dark days of winter. It is customary to toss the pancakes with a coin in hand to ensure prosperity and happiness throughout the year.
